My 100th Wedding as Official Photographer!

It’s taken me a while to get around to making this blog, but in April this year I photographed my 100th wedding as the official photographer. It was such an exciting milestone for me and I was so pleased to be celebrating it at such a grand and glorious venue - Edgcumbe House! It was actually my first time photographing a wedding at Edgcumbe House so that added another level of excitement to the day for me. I covered the full day for this wedding and I ended up editing and delivering a whopping 885 photos to the couple (1,770 photos if you include all the black and white copies). So this is why it’s taken me a long time to get around to the blog - there’s just so many photos to look through and it takes time deciding which ones to upload here for you all. So buckle up, here comes some of my favourites from throughout the day…

I started off by photographing the venue whilst it was empty…

Then I found the Bride who was getting ready with her daughter, her bridesmaids, her mum and her mother in law. The Bride and her Bridesmaids did a quick rehearsal of walking down the aisle before the bride revealed her dress to them. Laura was then helped into her wedding dress by her maid of honour and then they invited the bridesmaids and her dad in to see her once she was in her dress and ready for the day.

So here’s where I tell you that this is actually this couple’s second wedding day. They were initially due to marry in 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic. They had many postponed wedding dates until April 2021 when they finally married. Last year’s wedding was restricted to just 30 close friends and family due to government guidelines. It was held at The Liscawn and it was absolutely stunning, but they didn’t give up hopes for their bigger dream wedding at Edgcumbe House. This April at Edgcumbe they had an additional, very special, wedding guest joining them - their beautiful daughter. And so, they decided that their wedding blessing this year would also be a naming ceremony for their daughter. They had a handfasting ceremony to bless their marriage and then they surprised some close friends by asking them to be their daughter’s guide parents.

The ceremony was followed by confetti and group photos at the front of the house. I decided not to upload loads of group photos on here because this blog is already very long!

We headed out in the venue’s land rover to the folly for some photos. There was a few people sunbathing on the grass and kids playing in front of the folly so I had to remove them in edit. Then the bride and groom had some more photos by the house, just the two of them.

The evening reception was held in the marquee. There was just one speech (as all of the other speeches were done at their first wedding). And the cake - look at the size of it!! It was made by a dear friend of the couple. When I didn’t have any super important moments to capture, I made my way around the room and asked all the guests if they had any photo requests (photos with their own friends and family). I did quite a few of those as well as candid photos of guests sat at their tables talking with each other. But again, just because of the sheer size of the wedding collection and how long this blog is, I decided to leave those out of here too.

It was just about to get dark so I set up some lights at the front of the house for some special atmospheric photos of the bride and groom…

Then it was back in the marquee for some more dance floor pictures to finish off the collection…
