Looking at these photos, you wouldn’t guess that Lauren and Liv consider themselves to be camera shy. So much so in fact, that when I first contacted them about booking their pre-wedding photo shoot in (which was included in the package they booked me for) they said they’d rather not have the shoot. I told them it’s fine if they don’t want to book the pre shoot in at all but that when you’re camera shy, the best thing you can do is to book a pre shoot in and overcome that hurdle before the wedding day! Pre shoots are a really good way of breaking the ice between photographer and client and it also gives the client an insight into how I work and how it feels to have me pointing my camera at them. Without the pre shoot, the first time you’re having that experience will be in the morning of the wedding, when you’re already sick with nerves about the ceremony. I’ve not met a single couple who haven’t felt more confident in front of the camera after a pre shoot. It really is the best medicine for camera shy couples! And so Lauren and Liv decided to give it a go…

Lauren and Liv didn’t seem awkward or nervous at all. We instantly hit it off and discovered that we are kindred spirits, discussing music tastes, our favourite book genres and our mutual love for true crime documentaries. We walked and talked along Finnygook beach, until we reached what we considered to be the furthest point we’d want to have photos at. Then turned back towards our cars taking photos along the way back. It was a really fun shoot and I’m so glad that I had that opportunity to get to know them both before the wedding day - I want to be a comfort to them both when they’re full of emotion with butterflies in their tummies. I want them to think ‘aww Leah’s here, this will be fun’ and not ‘oh shit, this stranger is taking photos of me’.

They didn’t think they had it in them to have a pre shoot and yet look at how GORGEOUS they look together on camera! I want them to see me there at their wedding day with my camera and know that they’re going to absolutely rock it and have the best day of their lives! Morale of the story - book your pre shoot in, you won’t regret it!
